Over the past month, the Health Promotion Program (HPP) team has prepared for the installation of the JFSWM Community Garden. HPP staff and interns worked to clean the back parking lot at the office, not only preparing the site for the garden project, but also removing weeds and trash from the entire lot. In partnership with Rachel’s Table, our community garden became a reality featuring two raised beds complete with in-bed composters, worms, rain collection barrels, fruit trees, herb pots and a seating area.
On Monday August 12th, we welcomed clients from the JFSWM community and their families to join us to celebrate this achievement. Clients were able to plant seeds in the garden beds, paint flowerpots, take Polaroid photos with friends and family and participate in presentations and activities about composting and pollination. We would like to thank our partners at Rachel’s Table and NOFA with their support of our project.
