The younger kids had their own adventures this summer. Thanks to generous support from the City of Springfield and the Springfield Jewish Community Center, 37 resettled children were able to enjoy sports, swimming, arts, and cultural activities in a free, full-day, eight-week camp program.
A daily shuttle bus ran back and forth between the JCC and our office, which meant a lively lobby full of campers every afternoon, bursting with stories of their swimming prowess (Olympic medalists in the making, to hear them tell it after only a few lessons) and challenging our staff to daily push-up contests. Rabbi James, impressively, could more than hold his own against these young athletes.
We would not be at all surprised if our youth team was mentioned in some of those “What I did this summer” back-to-school essays! We obviously had a great time too!
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the funders, partners, and supporters who made it an unforgettable summer for our young clients: City of Springfield, Emergence Academy, Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership, Springfield Jewish Community Center, and Rotary Club of Springfield.
