Volunteer

We are currently in urgent need of the following:

• Classroom Support Volunteers assist with in-person group classes.
• English Language Coaches are matched with one or more learners to work remotely or in-person practicing core skills, reviewing online classes, and facilitating digital literacy.
• Refugee Youth Mentors are matched with refugee youth between the ages of 15 and 24 to serve as role models, advocates, guides, and supportive friends to help youth adjust to life in the U.S.
• Appointment Companions to help families get to important appointments, attend events, and complete their grocery shopping.
• Fingerprint Appointment Companions to take clients to their U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) fingerprinting appointments (usually scheduled in Hartford).
• Child Engagement Volunteers to supervise children in an educational and fun setting while their parents are participating in English language classes and group programs.
• Volunteer Attorneys to contribute their knowledge and experience in filling out and supporting JFS clients completing immigration applications.
