This month, we celebrated the launch of the Jewish Family Service Corps! Designed to engage Jewish families in meaningful social justice work rooted in the core programs of JFS, our kick-off event last week brought families together for an inspiring evening of learning and community-building. The evening began with a shared meal, creating an opportunity for families to connect as they learned about JFS’s history and the immigration journeys of cohort families. The program continued with a hands-on project to assemble welcome hygiene kits for newly arriving refugee clients. Zofia Topor, our Group Programs Coordinator, also shared insights into our Health Promotion Programs and explained how these kits play a crucial role in helping families feel supported as they begin new lives here.
We look forward to seeing these families grow through shared learning and service in the months to come, as they support refugees, older adults, and families in need in our community.
*Major funding for this program is from the Family Education Initiative of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.
