The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program is a program established by the IRS, run by volunteers to file taxes as no cost for underprivileged communities. This year, four experienced volunteers stepped up to establish a new site at our JFS office in Springfield. The team helped over 130 refugee individuals file their taxes and receive their refunds, answered clients’ questions, and helped resolve tax issues. We are beyond grateful for their service and the amazing work they have done, and are thrilled they will return to our office next April to offer this invaluable program again next tax season.
