What a busy year it has been for the Volunteer Legal Team! The team successfully filed asylum, SIV (Special Immigrant Visas) or TPS (Temporary Protected Status) applications for JFS’s Afghan clients who were evacuated in 2021–over 100 clients were served. The team continues to support families preparing for interviews, changing their status, and answering their questions. They have done incredible work filing cases and working closely with an attorney to make sure that all cases are on track. Many families have been granted asylum and SIV status, and are in the process of obtaining permanent residency cards.
