Many of the people we help are desperate to bring their loved ones to the U.S. for safety. Whether that be from political dangers, the uncertainties surrounding the elderly care of parents, or the need for a wholesome place to raise children. We also have clients who simply want to be reunited with children and spouses.
Not only do some of our clients carry the burdens of trauma and desperation, they also bare the overwhelming costs (approximately $2,000 to $3,000 per person) to bring their loved ones to safety. In the midst of their struggles they work hard to make this happen. This cost does not take into account the financial threshold that our clients must maintain to be approved to bring their family to safety.
Dealing with the bureaucracy surrounding immigration is frustrating and at times overwhelming, but being a small part of each client’s journey is rewarding, and when successful it is a huge relief to those we are able to help. JFS files approximately 85 immigration petitions a year.
In addition to those we help to immigrate to the U.S., we also provide other services like the replacement of lost/expired green cards, replacement of lost/destroyed citizenship certificates, citizenship certificates for children of naturalized citizens, and more.
