Did you know there are Jewish families in our community who are struggling to provide for their most basic needs? The Matzah Fund is Jewish Family Services’ response to help those members of our communities.

In just a month, we will gather with families and friends to celebrate Passover and remember our journey to freedom from oppression. As you probably know, food on Passover takes on added meaning because of its symbolic nature in the Seder. On Passover, with your participation, we can make sure everyone in our community has the necessary provisions to set their own Seder table, eat Passover food or join a communal Seder.

Gifts to the JFS Matzah-Passover Fund will provide a meaningful celebration of Passover to homebound seniors and others in our communities with limited financial resources. JFS will fill and distribute almost two hundred bags of kosher-for-Passover food to households in the Pioneer Valley. We will also sponsor over 30 individuals to attend a Seder at one of our local synagogues.

The Matzah fund is a beautiful opportunity for all of us to stand together as a Jewish community to take care of each other. Let all who are hungry come and eat. This is how the haggadah begins.

JFS is ready to assist; if you or someone you know would like to receive non-perishable kosher for Passover food or attend a communal Seder, please contact Lori Friedman, l.friedman@jfswm.org or (413) 455-1936, ext.106.

To make a tax-deductible donation to the JFS Matzah-Passover Appeal, please send your check to Jewish Family Service, 15 Lenox Street, Springfield, MA 01108 or give online at www.jfswm.org/donate.
